Musenalp cheese comes from the idyllically situated Musenalp in the Isenthal valley of Uri, nestled in a striking mountain basin at the foot of the Uri Rotstock. Accessible only on foot or by a small passenger cable car, this cheese—with its authentic regional character—is produced here from June through September amidst pristine Alpine scenery. When young, Musenalp cheese is mild, delicate, and already wonderfully aromatic. As it matures, however, it develops its full, distinctive character: spicy, well-balanced, and with a pleasant depth that lingers long on the palate.
